Generative Dreams from Deep Belief Networks Generative Art and Deep Learning
Following my presentation at the 18th Generative Art Conference (GA2015) in Venice, I’m happy to share a video of the presentation and a short introductory text.
“Deep Dreams” is the phrase the catch on to describe the particular kind of generative art derived from these things called “Neural Networks”, when applied to image recognition problems. The first publication was a blog post by Google research scientist, describing the procedure and techniques, as well as sharing wonderfully strange generated images. I was immediately hooked, and since them and have been playing myself with the code, experimenting, changing, tweaking and learning more about those algorithms. I learned that machine learning is a wonderful subject, with a lot of very active research, and Neural Networks have impressive power of generalize and learn, they are mathematical models inspired by the nature of the brain. In the conference’s paper I paint some introduction on Neural Networks, and give the reader some further references if he or she desires to read more - I hope you enjoy the video presentation.
